Family Fun All Summer Long In Atascadero

Summer in Atascadero is a good time to be a kid! There are plenty of activities for families with kids of all ages right here in Atascadero. From ax-throwing with your teens to bounce houses with your toddlers and everything in between, there’s something for every kid in our community! That's why your Chamber team has pulled together a handy list of five summer activities in Atascadero that your kids will love.

Throw Axes, Sing Your Heart Out, Or Compete In Mario Kart

First stop is A-Town Chop Shop in downtown Atascadero! This place is perfect for kids of all ages (although the teens really enjoy it) and is a great way to burn some energy. Parents, you can relax by the bar with a cold beer, while the kids throw some axes, or jump in to compete yourself. Thirsty kids? They also have tasty soda combinations that kids love! If some of the family wants to take a break, they can crash on the couch and compete with some Mario Kart. Or, if you’d like to sing your heart out, join A-Town Chop Shop for karaoke! It’s always a good time.

Check Out A Summer Blockbuster

If you’re looking for a more relaxing activity, why not check out the local movie theater? Kick up your feet and relax while munching on some popcorn at the Atascadero Colony Cinemas in downtown. They’ve got a number of fun hits for families running all summer long. ("Minions & Monsters," a live-action Moana remake, and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," are all coming to theaters soon!) Go on Tuesdays for their special Tuesday discount and enjoy $7.25 tickets all day to most of the films they’re showing. Saving money and having a good time is a recipe for a good summer!

Hop And Bounce Your Day Away

Where can you find two giant slides and bounce houses with air hockey and arcade games? Only at Hop’s Bounce House! If you have kids who are 13 or under, this spot is perfect for you. Conveniently in downtown Atascadero, your kids can play all day here as there are no hourly limits. They even have a special toddler play area with little games, walkers, Buggly Wuggly cars, and more.

Walk On The Wild Side

Come face-to-face with some exciting wild animals and learn all about them at the Central Coast Zoo. Located by the Atascadero Lake Park, the zoo is the perfect place to visit in the morning and then enjoy a family picnic in the park afterward. You can spend an entire afternoon with the family exploring and learning all about the zoo animals. It’s also the only zoo in San Luis Obispo County. See red pandas, monkeys, and more!

Spend Your Summer Lakeside

Did you know that you can paddle across the Atascadero Lake? You can at Wild Fields Lakeside! Located a short distance away from the zoo, you can hop on a pedal boat and cruise around the water. When you and your family need a break, you can relax on the boardwalk and enjoy some food and drinks. They’re open from Memorial Day until Labor Day, seven days a week.
