Voices of the VFW: VFW Post 2814 Celebrates our 250th Independence Day and Continues Serving the Community

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2814 in Atascadero continued its mission of serving veterans, their families, and the local community throughout July with a variety of events centered on patriotism, fellowship, and service.

The month began with a successful Independence Day celebration as the Post hosted its annual Tri-Tip Barbecue, drawing an outstanding turnout from both members and the community. The event provided an opportunity for veterans, families, and friends to celebrate America's independence and our nation's 250th anniversary while enjoying great food and fellowship. The strong community support made the celebration a tremendous success.

Adding to the Fourth of July festivities, Post employee Kay Brink proudly represented VFW Post 2814 by carrying the Post flag during the Paso Robles Fourth of July Parade. Her participation showcased the Post's pride in honoring our nation's traditions and representing the veteran community throughout the Central Coast.

Continuing its commitment to supporting fellow veterans, VFW Post 2814 also made a donation to the monument project at the Paso Robles VFW Post. The contribution reflects the strong partnership between the North County VFW Posts and their shared commitment to honoring veterans while working together to strengthen services and support throughout the region.

Another major milestone this month was the completion of the Post's roofing project. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Mid-State Roofing and community supporter Bob Carrubba, the Post now has a new roof that will help preserve the facility for generations of veterans to come. Their contributions reflect the strong community partnerships that make the Post's mission possible.

The Post also continued its popular weekly events, providing opportunities for members and guests to gather in a welcoming atmosphere. Tuesday night dinners, Wednesday lunches, Friday evening gatherings, and Thursday karaoke nights remained well attended, giving veterans and community members a place to connect, enjoy good food, and build lasting friendships.

Looking ahead, VFW Post 2814 is preparing to once again support the annual barbecue for soldiers and their families at Camp San Luis Obispo, continuing its longstanding partnership with the California Army National Guard and demonstrating its commitment to those currently serving our nation.

Community service remains a top priority for the Post. Members continue to maintain their adopted section of Highway 41 through the Adopt-a-Highway program while planning additional volunteer projects that benefit the greater Atascadero community.

As the organization moves through the summer, membership continues to grow, and new volunteers are always welcome. Whether through service projects, veteran assistance, youth programs, or community events, VFW Post 2814 remains dedicated to honoring America's veterans while strengthening the bonds that unite the community.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2814 is located at 9555 Morro Road in Atascadero.
